St George’s Basilica was the second church at Prague Castle founded about 920 by Prince Vratislav I. Only some parts from that time have been preserved. St George Convent of Benedictine nuns was founded in 973. Following fires in the 1100s then the occupation by enemy soldiers in the late 1700s both buildings have undergone multiple rounds of restoration.
